About the artist

From early in childhood, creative expression was part of my family. Both parents instilled a love for the
beauty in the natural world and they taught us children how to capture that beauty through photography.
But more than simply capturing an image, it was composing and saving a moment in time and the feeling
attached to it. That simple truth has followed all my artistic endeavors.
Creative writing and poetry is a way to express the descriptive imagery of my imagination allowing the
transporting of the readers to a moment and feeling.
My fascination with color and design next found a outlet in making jewelry. The endless variety of precious
stones and metals allowed for a very satisfying expression of wearable art. It brought much joy to see
others derive pleasure from wearing jewelry I had created for them.
My love of pottery has brought a new set of skills to share with others. The common thread is a nurturing of
my creative soul along with a blending of functionality and beauty. Each unique piece of pottery is carefully
hand brushed with glazes chosen for the amazing chemical reaction that they have with each other during
the heat of the kiln firing. This allows for complex combinations of colors and texture that leaves me in awe.
I moved to the beautiful western North Carolina mountains in 2017 and live in Tryon with my husband and
two dogs. I am a happy potter who greatly appreciates those who support my art and enrich their lives with
handcrafted pottery.
